Scavenger Hunt Week 3 (3 is a crowd)

By the skin of my chin, I am here and posting for another week. Here goes.

This bowl contains three amniotic eggs, which I consumed in a sandwich the other day. An amniotic egg is one in which the embryo develops inside of an amnion, often surrounded by a calcium based shell.

This morning, this dragon fly flew right into my car to hang out and shoot the breeze. Not literally because dragon flies cannot talk to humans. The dragon fly is important because he possesses a strong exoskeleton. An exoskeleton is exactly what it sounds like; a skeleton on the outside of the body.

This is monkey grass. Monkey grass, aka Liriope muscari, is found dominantly all over the south as a small ground cover shrub in people's yards. Despite this, its origins are traced back to Japan. Because monkey grass did not originate in the south east, it is considered an introduced species.

What we have here is a frond. A frond is the leaf like portion of a non-vascular plant.

While playing in the mud today, I came across this worm. After playing with him for awhile, he split into two worms which made for twice the fun. The worm fits in here because he is a detritivore. Detritivores are organisms that feed on organic waste. Worms, like this one here, eat dirt.

Thanks guys. Until next week, this is your captain, signing off.
