finished part four

The ability for plants to regrow and have new leafs create and produce energy for the plant is using meristem cells. Just like human stem cells except plants do not lose meristem cells until they die. Meristem cells work on the creation of new and necessary organs and tissues for the plants, so that is why if a plant loses some leafs or branches, it doesn't die. Meristem cells work very much like stem cells.
In the Everglades there are lots of different types of Palm species, one of them being called palm fronds. A palm frond is called that because just like the name it is separated way more between the leafs, but it is very organized in the separation. Palm fronds are actually way more common than palm trees. In the picture, yes there are ferns but in the background there are palm fronds.
Many animals like this pelican that was off the dock of my condo, has an energy back-up and storer called glycogen. This energy storer is used to help keep the animals going. In humans on the other hand we have glycogen but it is found in the liver and muscles and we burn fat first whereas most animals burn muscle so they need glycogen to replace the burning of muscle tissue.
In the Everglades of Florida, there are a substantial amount of mangrove trees in the water and these trees portray qualities of rhizome. Rhizomes are long and branch or creeping looking roots. Even though rhizomes tend to be found underground. The reason why mangroves show this trait is because they have their roots underwater for most of the year which creates these spindly looking roots.
