Scavenger Hunt Post #4



         1. CAM Plant - this is a plant that uses Crassulacean Acid Metabolism, or CAM, as an adaption for arid conditions. This plant is called an Aloe "Minnie Bell" and is an example of such.




        2. Gymnosperm Cone - this type of plant contains seed which are not contained in the ovaries. A pine cone is an example of a gymnosperm.




        3. Gymnosperm Leaf - again, this type of plant contains seeds that are not enclosed in the ovaries. Pine needles are examples of gymnosperm leafs.




                   4. Dominant vs. Recessive Phenotype - a phenotype is physical, observable characteristic determined by the genetic makeup of the parents. In this case, the blue eyes are the recessive phenotype and the brown eyes are the dominant phenotype.




          5. C4 Plant - this is a plant in which the carbon dioxide is first fixed into a compound containing four carbon atoms before entering photosynthesis. Corn is an example of a C4 plant.
