Scavenger Hunt Post #5

1. A detrivore is a organism that feed and break down dead plants then return the essential nutrients tp the ecosystem. Detrivore include fungi, insects, worms and many more things.
 2. Homeostasis is the process of a system that regulates its internal environment and tends to maintain stable. Dogs pant because they are trying to maintain homeostasis.
3. An enzyme is a complex protien that cause a specific chemical change in all parts of the body. Enzymes help break down the foods you eat so the body can use them. Many are located in spit....So sorry you have to see gross spit.
4. Exoskeleton is an external skeleton that supports and protects an animals body. Sorry for the small ant but an ant does have an exoskeleton. Ants are also arthropods. (this is for my wrong definition of arthropods last week...sorry about that!) Arthropods are invertebrate animals that have exoskeletons, segmented bodies and jointed appendages.
5. Mycelium is the vegetive part of fungus and you cant see it if you just look at fungus from the top. It connects the fungus under the dirt. Mycelium consists of mass branching hyphae.
