Scavenger Hunt Post #5






         1. Ethylene - can be identified as either a hydrocarbon or a natural plant hormone given off during the process of the fruit ripening. Peaches contain ethylene.




         2. C3 Plant -  These are plants that contain three carbon atoms in order to turn carbon dioxide into organic compounds. Rice is an example of a C3 plant.




         3. Detritivore - this is a type of heterotroph that obtain nutrients by consuming decomposing plant and animal parts. Worms are examples of detritivores.




         4. Endotherm - this is an organism that maintains its body at a metabolically favorable temperature. They can also be characterized as "warm-blooded". Dogs are an example of an endotherm.




         5. Basidiomycete - also know as "club fungi", these plants bear sexually produced spores on a basidium, Mushrooms are examples of Basidiomycetes.
