Lichens are plantlike organisms made up of an alga or algae and a fungus growing together on a solid surface such as a rock or a tree. Here is some lichen mixed in with moss on a rock. k9dk86bjto13.jpg
Connective tissue supports and binds other tissues. Connective tissue usually has cells scattered throughout in an extracellular matrix (complex mixture of nonliving material). Bone is a type of connective tissue called mineralized connective tissue. These are dog "bones". flzwblbazhr1.jpg
The cuticle layer of a plant has a similar function to that of a human's skin. It is a non-cellular protective layer covering the outer cell layer, or epidermis, of land plants. The cuticle layer also provides a large amount of support. mh7zmxjp0508.jpg
Bilateral Symmetry means that the animal could be broken into two identical halves down the middle. It is sometimes referred to as "left/ right symmetry" because the right and the left sides are the same. All vertebrates have bilateral symmetry including dogs.

Exoskeletons are skeletons on the outside of the body. They serve as a sort of outer armor, protecting the inside of the animal. Ants are an example of exoskeletons.
